Education Programs Contract Teacher (French-speaking)

Summary: Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Programs Contract Teacher will play an integral role the continued success of the Gallery’s education programs, including programs offered in French.

Through interpretive programs and ‘hands-on’ activities the Education Programs Contract Teacher will facilitate programs that foster visual literacy, encourage creativity and provide multiple points of entry for the understanding of contemporary art.

The Education Programs Contract Teacher will:

- Play a fundamental role in the continued success and relevance of well-established programs specifically the facilitation and delivery of elementary school Tour & Studio workshop programs.
– With training, assume responsibility for the firing of projects in the kiln as well as general maintenance and safety of the studio and kilns.
– Possess the ability to motivate students of various age groups, levels and abilities and led students though hands-on clay sculpture activities promoting technical skill development, physical dexterity and creativity.
– Monitor the progress of students, provides assistance and encouragement, and pace workshops to meet students’ need.
– Review and evaluate existing programs with a goal to modify and develop innovative educational programs to meet standards of artistic excellence and community need.

Requirements

Fluency in French, verbal and written
Bachelor of Fine Arts (or equivalent)
Experience teaching multiple ages and skill levels
