Birch Bark and Quill Workshop

June 21 • 6-9pm

To celebrate National Aboriginal Day on June 21, The Clay & Glass will host a “Birch Bark and Quill” workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to create a design using porcupine quills on birch bark. This type of work is a technique that is unique to the Indigenous of North America. Artist Rebecca Baird will lead the workshop and will have samples of different designs, but participants are welcome to bring their own designs. Rebecca’s work can be seen in our current exhibition Tributaries: Midway ‘twixt earth and heaven.

Our exhibition Tributaries: Midway ‘twixt earth and heaven is on view until June 26, 2016. Featuring the work of KC Adams, Rebecca Baird, Kenny Baird, Carl Beam, Nadia Myre, Marianne Nicolson, Greg Staats and Members of the Smith Family, this exhibition embraces the elements of earth, fire and light, foundations of Indigenous ideology.
 
The Gallery Shop and Exhibition spaces will be open until 9pm.

Adult Tour and Studio Workshops

Exhibition tours and studio workshop programs are available for groups of adults. In this two-hour program, the group is given a tour of the current exhibition as well as an opportunity to construct an object in the studio workshop. Objects are fired in the kiln and returned two weeks after the visit.
