The Pegman Project: Free Workshop!

Let’s Make a Mark Together!

We welcome members of our community to come and join us for this FREE workshop on Thursday, October 15th from 4 to 5:30pm lead by Behnaz Fatemi, City of Kitchener Artist in Residence.

This workshop engages the community through clay sculpture making with a focus on immigration-related topics. With your help, the artist would like to attempt to answer the question of how cultural background, past experiences and social values can shape people’s views towards immigrants and refugees. She hopes to facilitate this through using clay. Working in clay allows the user to enter a more harmonious state which often allows them to deepen their self-knowledge.  This is also a chance during our current times, to reflect on what it means to be a community and to experience the healing properties of creating with clay.

Participants, aged 8 and up, use hand-building pottery methods to make sculptures and decorate the surface by engraving words or designs on the sculptures. This work would then be fired, finished, and used by the artist as part of her residency with the City of Kitchener.

Please sign up below to confirm your attendance for this workshop and help us maintain safe social distancing.
