Earthborn is the annual jurried exhibition of works by members of the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop. Established in 1968, the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop is located in Waterloo Park, occupying the historic Jacob Eby Farmhouse. This building functions as a work and learn space for members, and as a teaching facility for the public. This year’s juror is Jessica Steinhäuser.
About Jessica Steinhäuser
Jessica Steinhäuser emigrated from Germany in her early twenties after 4 years of training and certification as a Journeyman Potter. She opened Stonehouse Pottery in Guelph and started producing finely crafted production pottery. She dreamed of designing and building ceramic tile home heating stoves, popular in Europe since the 1400s called “kachelofen” since she was a child. She stopped making pottery nearly a decade ago and for the past many years she has been able to create and build onsite, kachelofen exclusively. She has designed and created dozens of unique kachelofen for clients all over the world and has won many awards for her artistry, craftsmanship and masonry.
