Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery to Host Book Launch for Remembrance Every Day
Free public event celebrates a publication honouring the sacrifices of soldiers and peacekeepers through art, stories, and remembrance
WATERLOO, ON, October 28, 2026 — The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery invites the public to celebrate the launch of Remembrance Every Day, a special publication commemorating the sacrifices of soldiers and peacekeepers through the work of Canadian clay and glass artists, on Saturday, November 8, 2026, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Gallery’s exhibition space. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
Lead authors John Short and Denis Longchamps, the Gallery’s former Executive Director & Chief Curator, will be in attendance to sign copies of the book and participate in a conversation with the Gallery’s current Executive Director & Chief Curator, Sarah Stanners.
Beautifully designed by Christine Goucher, Remembrance Every Day brings together art, personal reflections, and stories that honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served. The publication opens with contributions from notable Waterloo Region public figures, including the Honourable Bardish Chagger, P.C.; MPP Catherine Fife; Chair Karen Redman; and City of Waterloo Mayor Dorothy McCabe.
The book features full-page colour illustrations of works inspired by Remembrance Day, alongside reflections on the contributions of 25 artists who participated in the Gallery’s Remembrance Every Day exhibition in 2025. It also documents artist-led workshops and installations presented across Canada, extending the project’s spirit of remembrance beyond the Gallery and into communities nationwide.
A dedicated chapter, “Veterans’ Stories,” offers a more personal perspective through rare photographs and testimonials from individuals with military and public service backgrounds. Contributors include retired RCMP Staff Sergeant Major John A. Buis, M.O.M., B.G.S.; Owen Lackenbauer, CD, retired Army Major and former Honorary Colonel of the RHFC; Major Kent Griffiths; and retired Canadian Armed Forces Corporal A.J. Mullett, CD.
Together, these contributions make Remembrance Every Day a lasting tribute to the people whose service and sacrifice deserve recognition—not only on Remembrance Day, but every day.
Remembrance Every Day is available in hardcover for $75 and softcover for $55 at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery Shop.
