The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery presents: CHIHULY Art Sculptures & Grand Rapids ARTPrize
September 20-22, 2026
The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is excited to partner with Fields Trips to organize another fundraising trip. Welcome to Grand Rapids, where creative energy extends from the art and flower beds at the Meijer Gardens to downtown parks and from industrial design to breweries. Here you will explore the works of thousands of artists from across the globe as the city itself transforms into a canvas. You’ll find awe-inspiring sculptures, installations, paintings, and more as you wander through streets, parks, galleries, and restaurants. Join us on this great adventure while supporting the Gallery!
Day 1
Enjoy a leisurely drive as we make our way into Grand Rapids, a city that exudes creative energy. We’ll check into our hotel with enough time to enjoy their daily 5:30 Kickback® where a rotating menu of fresh, hot food and beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks are served every day.
Day 2
This morning, we’ll enjoy a private guided tour of the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM), a cultural landmark in an art-loving city. More than just a world-class museum, GRAM serves as a dynamic space for connection, inspiration, and reflection. Next up is a narrated tram tour through Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, where you’re sure to enjoy the botanical oasis brimming with beauty and inspiration, along with their Sculpture Park that features significant works of art within a variety of natural settings connected by waterways, meandering paths, lawns, meadows and quiet walkways. A highlight will be the Dale Chihuly Exhibit. With major site-specific installations named for the Meijer family, internationally renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly will be celebrated for his dazzling installations and exhibitions. This afternoon, we’ve included time at ArtPrize, an international art competition & cultural festival held annually in Grand Rapids.
Day 3
As we begin our journey home, we’ll make a stop at The Glass Academy. This facility functions as a private art studio where large-scale commissioned projects are fabricated in glass, metal, and mixed media. The Glass Academy aims to expand awareness of how handcrafted glass can be utilized as both functional and decorative elements in modern applications. Now it’s time to show off your own skills as you join the Glass Academy in their mission to create the largest display of hand-blown glass objects in their gallery! We’ll use recycled glass to create two hand-blown glass bubbles – one to be added to their sculpture, and one as a souvenir. * You will not be taking home your own bubbles. You will get to take home one bubble, made in a previous class, as a souvenir.
